Cultural Diorama

[another multicultural education assignment: The Cultural Diorama Assignment allows you to explore who you are culturally as a person. Becoming familiar with your own cultural identity helps you to recognize and value students’ cultural identities.]

temple
The temple is such an important part of who I am--my culture, my beliefs, my desires. I want nothing more than to be married and sealed in the temple, the House of the Lord, just as my parents were. Attending weekly is a goal I have set for myself. I am so thankful to have the Provo temple only 2 minutes away enabling me to go anytime I want. I find great peace and comfort as I enter the doors of the Lord's Holy House. I am closer to Him.

FAMILY
Not a day goes by that I don't talk to at least one member of my family. I love them so much and miss them terribly {well maybe not that much. I absolutely love it here!}. My sisters are my best friends. All I want to do when I visit home is spend time with them whether it be laying on the couch and watching a movie or getting ice cream. I look up to them {not just in a literal sense} and am awed by their examples. My mom has the best advice in the world--she is so incredibly smart. She's always there to listen to me and tell me what I need to hear {whether I want to hear it or not!}. My dad has the most integrity and is the hardest working man I know. He is hilarious--I'm his biggest fan! And my dog Buckman is the coolest.

health:
nutrition & exercise
I love, love, love to exercise. And I love, love, love eating healthy. {Okay, so I don't hate sweets, but I save those for extra special occasions.} Running is my passion. I'm fully equipped for outdoor running this winter--thank goodness! Exercise is part of my family. Dad loves riding his bike. Erin likes to join him and loves to run. I love to run. It's my preferred mode of exercising. I don't do it just for the health benefits but because I love it. Very rarely do I have to make myself exercise, especially run. I also enjoy yoga, pumping some serious iron {especially with Erin or Mom or Dad}, kick boxing {body combat}, and riding my beach cruiser. Mom loves her classes: step, yoga, body pump {a weight class}, and rowing. Emily's been getting into pilates lately. And Dana loves riding her beach cruiser. Well, actually the whole family loves riding the beach cruisers! Mom is good at keeping the family healthy: lots of produce {my favorite!}, nutritious meals, Vitamin D-3 supplements, and cod liver oil. And she is good at making sure to inform all of us how important sleep is {most importantly sleep combined with healthy eating and exercise} to prevent sickness!
