stuff white people like*:

*please note: this is an assignment for my multicultural education class. please view this website for some laughs.

assignment:
Hunt around with a sense of humor and find one thing that relates to you personally or relates to a white person that you know. Email the link to what you find to some of your friends or post it as your status update on facebook [or on your blog] and see what type of reactions you get. Come to class Session #3 prepared to report on your friends’ reactions.

so please, comment {or email your comments} after you read the article {it's short, promise}.

Stuff White People Like #104: Girls With Bangs.
{click link above or picture to enlarge}
what do we learn from this?
and how it relates to me.
a) "...White people love women who wear their hair with bangs that hang straight down."
I'm pretty sure this statement, in reference to me, is true.

b) "...For white people, this simple haircut makes a bold declaration by saying that the wearer is artistic, deep, and has probably dated a guy in a band you like"
artistic? maybe
deep? deeper than the arctic ocean
dated a guy in a band you like? wouldn't you like to know.

c) "Throughout the world, many cultures feature ceremonies to announce that a girl has become a woman. For white people, the haircut-with-bangs is an important symbol that a female has completed her transformation from a nerdy girl to a cool woman."
in 2006 i went for some real side sweeping bangs.
in 2007 i was talked into the bangs.
in 2010 i still have them
[because i haven't cut my hair since february, disgusting i know. and because i like them. and because i don't want to grow them out. and because no one has told me they hated them. ummmmm, do people hate them?]

d) "When you are introduced to a group of white people, it’s a good idea to befriend the girl with the bangs. She’s probably the most popular."
probably a good idea. and probably true.

exhibit a:

  1. dear cousin (and fellow bang wearer)

i really like this post.. i will have to show it to paul. he is not a fan of my bangs. but maybe if i show him how coool it is, and how much white people like them, he will change his mind. i think he has a problem with them because i had them when i was little, so he associates them with being childish. but i dont care... i love them and i think they are soo cool. you rock your bangs cuz!
