silver / mid-day wednesday debriefing

{notes}
yesterday one of my sweet little students brought me a card she made. he front had a pink eraser taped to it.  "It's a really good one!" so cute.

after the kids went to computer class, they all came back with Halloween pictures they made for me.  maybe the computer teacher told them, i don't know. but it was so sweet.

love love love.

{silver}
i have this one kid that is just so hard sometimes.  well, all of the time.  he is always talking. it's a miracle if he's quiet for more than a minute or 2.  he tries to lay down all the time when we are sitting at the carpet.  and one day he told me that he has a facebook.  i checked.  sure enough, there he was.

so today he comes in and says "teacher" (oh yeah--he calls me teacher. that gets old super fast.) "i lost my tooth last night!!! and i brought it in to show everyone!!"

so then he shows me.  it's in this little plastic cylinder.  it was a silver tooth and the bottom was all gross.  it was just disgusting.  i told him to put it in his backpack.  "but i want to show everyone!" well, i told him to show his friends after school.  hey, if i let him show it then EVERY tooth that is lost this year will need to be shared.

after school he comes to me and says, "you know why it is so cool?  it's because it is my silver tooth!  and it was rotting.  it was in my mouth for too long that's why it was rotting."  hmm, not so much.  more like it was being eaten away by the bacteria because you had too much sugar and/or didn't brush your teeth.

{yoga}
yes, the class and i did yoga this morning.  i told them what yoga is and then we did 3 sun salutations.  no, we did not do the full sun salutation and jump back to plank, up dog, then down dog.  we just did the first part.  they loved it.  and i do yoga for 10-15 minutes every morning and night now and i feel wonderful, so it will be soooo great for our class.  it's fun for them and wakes them up.

{hearing aids}
i have this little girl with partial to severe hearing loss.  we've been having problems.  she just got new hearing aids (only had one or none since the beginning of school). one of them she lost, the other she had for a few weeks then it got chewed up by her dog.  great.  this seriously is no bueno for her learning.  she needs help but in order for her to even make it there, she needs to be able to hear! she got new hearing aids the day before fall break.

monday: right h.a. ringing. contacted district audiologist.
tuesday: dad fixed it.
wednesday: ringing again.  must call audiologist asap.
thursday (today): no right hearing aid. where is it? my dog chewed it up.  seriously? really? again?
thursday after lunch: what's wrong? i lost my hearing aid at recess. ooooooookay, this has got to be a joke!  well, enter classroom unity: we searched the playground for it.  i told the kids to walk with their heads down looking for it and so they didn't accidentally step on it.  i even had some crawling.
no luck.  then we got in a long line all spread out and walked for it when "i found it!" my little tender-hearted quiet boy yelled and we were so excited!  then we came in and IMMEDIATELY wrote about it as a class.  it was PERFECT!! we did a storyboard first (which is what we have been working on for writer's workshop) then wrote it out together.  it was so great.

this is long.
so long.
farewell.
adieu.
