snow's fallin'

[anyone up for a little hop across the pond?
or anywhere else over "there".]

pretty much i have been in heaven since i came back from break.
which is quite the contrast from one year ago.

i think i cried every day.

this year things are different.
the sun has been showing everyday {well, almost everyday}
the snow has been failing to fall {hallelujah}
except for some nights and mornings.
but that means that i am able to go running in the day {like this week}.

and a billion other fabulous things.

20 January 2010

because we could all use a little extra sun in our lives

i've been pretty into sunflowers lately.
i think they are my flower of the month.
i'm now implementing a flower of the month. {see side bar}.

and i'm loving these red sunflowers.
when i stopped at the bouquet display at sunflowers market today i saw these babies.
love, love, love.
and look at some of the delicious produce a bought today.
so excited asparagus was on super sale. a rare thing around this neck of the woods.
needless to say, my lunch was fabulous and my dinner is going to be fabulous, too.

still loving life.
and still loving that it snowed last night but isn't today.
and that mr. sun has been showing himself for a few hours each day.

19 January 2010

almost 200...

i just realized i'm almost to post 200.

that's kinda crazy.

just like ellen degeneres and oprah have landmark celebrations, i will too.
{note: no cars or favorite things [plural] or houses will be given away. maybe asmall favorite thing. maybe}

yesterday i bought a few fake gerber daisy's for our kitchen table. the fall leaves garland and flowers i bought in october really needed to go. {as well as the christmas decorations...sunday, perhaps?}

here's some pictures i took on my phone of my new lovely set up.
{also, we love cleaning checks. well, i love cleaning checks.}

note the whiteboard calendars. bought those a few years ago. absolutely love them.
also note the candle and place mats. thanks g.ma.
also, also note the 6 B's {which I think is now like 9 or 12 or 120}. made that a few years ago.

happy happy happy.
the snow that was supposed to come yesterday failed to show up. happy.
the snow that was supposed to happen all day today isn't coming until tonight. happy.
the sunshine out now is fabulous. happy.
my run yesterday was exhilarating. happy.
my run today was adventerous {new path}. happy.

Cultural Diorama

[another multicultural education assignment: The Cultural Diorama Assignment allows you to explore who you are culturally as a person. Becoming familiar with your own cultural identity helps you to recognize and value students’ cultural identities.]

temple
The temple is such an important part of who I am--my culture, my beliefs, my desires. I want nothing more than to be married and sealed in the temple, the House of the Lord, just as my parents were. Attending weekly is a goal I have set for myself. I am so thankful to have the Provo temple only 2 minutes away enabling me to go anytime I want. I find great peace and comfort as I enter the doors of the Lord's Holy House. I am closer to Him.

FAMILY
Not a day goes by that I don't talk to at least one member of my family. I love them so much and miss them terribly {well maybe not that much. I absolutely love it here!}. My sisters are my best friends. All I want to do when I visit home is spend time with them whether it be laying on the couch and watching a movie or getting ice cream. I look up to them {not just in a literal sense} and am awed by their examples. My mom has the best advice in the world--she is so incredibly smart. She's always there to listen to me and tell me what I need to hear {whether I want to hear it or not!}. My dad has the most integrity and is the hardest working man I know. He is hilarious--I'm his biggest fan! And my dog Buckman is the coolest.

health:
nutrition & exercise
I love, love, love to exercise. And I love, love, love eating healthy. {Okay, so I don't hate sweets, but I save those for extra special occasions.} Running is my passion. I'm fully equipped for outdoor running this winter--thank goodness! Exercise is part of my family. Dad loves riding his bike. Erin likes to join him and loves to run. I love to run. It's my preferred mode of exercising. I don't do it just for the health benefits but because I love it. Very rarely do I have to make myself exercise, especially run. I also enjoy yoga, pumping some serious iron {especially with Erin or Mom or Dad}, kick boxing {body combat}, and riding my beach cruiser. Mom loves her classes: step, yoga, body pump {a weight class}, and rowing. Emily's been getting into pilates lately. And Dana loves riding her beach cruiser. Well, actually the whole family loves riding the beach cruisers! Mom is good at keeping the family healthy: lots of produce {my favorite!}, nutritious meals, Vitamin D-3 supplements, and cod liver oil. And she is good at making sure to inform all of us how important sleep is {most importantly sleep combined with healthy eating and exercise} to prevent sickness!

the sunday {on monday} evening post, 14th ed.
