goldie

i've been spending some quality time with goldie lately.

let us reminisce of the past.
when goldie was mine.
and not emily's...now dana's.
before i moved.
and before i got santa.

erin-- remember that one time when we were going so crazy?
and we parked goldie sideways on the driveway. and laughed so hard.
and then forgot that we did it and went out later and laughed even harder.
and remember before that we were going crazy at chevron {w.techron}?
and while i was pumping gas, you were having a photo shoot with yourself in the car. and my sunglasses.

love / hate

love:
all things
flowery.

especially this:
and this.
so naturally, when i was browsing-because-of-boredom-at-work , stumbling upon the cupcakes at marthastewart.com, i fell in love with this one.
love: cupcakes. they're so cute. and i love to decorate them. and make them cute. but i hardly ever do because...
hate: cupcakes. well, cake. which includes cupcakes.
also, chrysanthemums are november's flower. and i'm a november baby. and i love chrysanthemums. probably why i love that cupcake's decoration so much.

27 December 2009

the sunday morning post, 11th ed.

my favorite day of the week.
here's what i will be doing today:
church . taking bucky for a walk at the beach {65/70 degrees in december? heaven. [especially since my computer says 9 degrees in provo at 9.30 am. must i go back?]} nap. homemade whole wheat pizza-making {our new "family is all home! let's make pizzas!" tradition}. family time {seinfeld scene it? i think so!}

Christmas update:
{pictures will be posted later. must steal from the sisters' cameras still.}

eve at aunt j's. danny and denae came from AZ with little luke!
cinnamon rolls christmas morning. mmm.
feast at g.ma's in the afternoon/evening.

{one}
speaking of g.ma...
she seems to always find funny little things to get us.
like when she got me this udderly cool cow tool set before i moved to provo

so this year she bought bucky some gifts.
he was pretty into christmas this year.
usually he just loves that the family is all sitting together on the floor and there's paper and bags everywhere. and he always gets a bag of treats and some balls.
which is pretty fun to watch him try to fit them all in his mouth at the same time. or throw them down the hall all at once and he gets all confused because he doesn't know which one to pick up.

but this year bucky was different.
we blame it on the birthday.
he knows what presents are.
and he kept thinking they were all for him.

anyway.
g.ma's crazy gift to the bucky?
a camelbak.
for a dog.
there's a collapsable water bowl that comes with it,
the water goes in the bowl for the dog and then you drink out of the little hose thing.
clever.
and she also got him, rather us, a treat baking kit.
as in mix to make doggie biscuits.
complete with cat and bone cookie cutters.

{two}
my gift to mom:
framed "The Family: A Proclamation to the World"
{click here to read what I believe on families}
and a family picture.
then stitched flowers and "Families are Forever" {respectively} on the matting.

{three}
my gift to erin:
for her bday. which is not for a month, but i will be in utah so i decided this year that i would get her one before i go back.
instead i made it:
shadow box frame {love those. love ikea frames. used for mom's gift too.}
my new favorite photo of us girls.
also, our christmas card.

{four}
erin's gift to em:
one of those cool picture/note board things.
homemade by erin!
turned out SO cute.
i already have one,
but i wouldn't mind a homemade one as cute as this.
love it!

hope everyone had a fabulous christmas.

cheers to the new year. t-4 days. yikes.

24 December 2009

tis the reason for the season:

the birth of Christ, our Savior, our Redeemer.
Ms. Gwyneth Paltrow had this on her blog this morning:
{and for the record, hers is the only celebrity blog i look at}
a question and a few responses from priests & leaders of other faiths.
question:
“The figure and teachings of Jesus are too often broken down, adapted, and then shaped to fit people’s own particular needs and desires. Who was the real, walking, talking, preaching Jesus and what lessons can we take from him today?”
my response?
click here and here. or here to read about Our Savior: Testimonies of Him from Living Prophets and Apostles, His Life and His Teachings, Who He is.

and watch this. and click here to watch more.

I know that Heavenly Father sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to this mortal life. It was part of His Plan-- the Savior of the World to be born into mortality, in a lowly manger, a humble birth. To live a glorious life performing miracles: Healing the sick, causing blind to see and lame to walk, and raising men from the dead.
He suffered for the sins of all mankind. And not just that: our sicknesses, our sorrows, our trials and tribulations. He was crucified on Calvary.
He rose again on the third day. He lives! And because He lives, I will live again.
All this so that we can return to live with He and Our Father again.

One this Christmas day, may we all take a break from the hustle and bustle of the world and think about our Savior. Read in the Book of Mormon of His annunciation and the events of His Birth {Helaman 14, 16, 3 Nephi 1} and of His birth in the New Testament {Luke 2}.
Reflect on your relationship with Him.
Write your feelings and impressions.
Commit to be more like Him.
Merry Christmas
